Modi to attend Sankar Sangha meet

DIBRUGARH, Jan 21 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 85th conference of the Srimanta Sankar Sangha in Sivasagar after landing at the Jorhat Airport for his visit to the State on February 5.

This was stated by the convenor of the State BJP�s poll management committee, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, at a press meet today. He said after attending the conference, Modi will move to Moran to address a rally of BJP workers and well-wishers at the Moran Polo ground. BJP workers from Sadiya, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Jorhat will attend the meet.

At 2.30 pm, the Prime Minister will arrive at Lepetkata to inaugurate the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL). He will then fly to Guwahati from the Mohanbari Airport to inaugurate the South Asian Games, Dr Sarma informed. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum and Ananth Kumar, Union Minister for Fertilizer & Chemicals, will be accompanying the Prime Minister.

Earlier today, workers of the State BJP led by Dr Sarma and MPs Rameshwar Teli and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, held a meeting here to discuss the Prime Minister�s visit. The BJP is hopeful that Modi�s visit, particularly to Upper Assam, will fire up the grassroots workers to campaign more vigorously in view of the Assembly polls.
