Modi more focused on foreign policy: Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Dec 26 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is more focused on foreign policy than on national issues on which he rode to power.

In a statement here today, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi instead of fulfilling his election promises of ushering in acche din (good days) for the aam aadmi (common man), is more focused on foreign affairs with numerous visits to foreign shores.

Foreign policy has been more prominent on PM Modis agenda with numerous visits to foreign countries. Domestic issues emphasised during the election campaign have taken a backseat. The euphoriagenerated by his election campaign has vanished into thin air with the common people ranging from petty traders to small farmers unhappy with what he has done during the past one and a half years of his tenure as Prime Minister, said Gogoi.

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister must keep in mind that the superstructure of a robust foreign policy can sustain itself only on the foundation of a strong domestic policy. PM Modis current concern is all about foreign affairs and speaking out his mind (Mann Ki Baat) to people of foreign countries rather than listening to the voices of the people of the country who made him the Prime Minister with high hopes and expectations that acche din would come, Gogoi said.

PM Modi might be under the notion that acche din which he had promised during the election campaign has finally dawned. So it is time for him to focus more on foreign affairs, he quipped.
