GUWAHATI, Jan 9 � An earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked the NE region around 7.11 am today.
According to the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) here, the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Myanmar-India border region and it occurred at a depth of 89 km.
Reports of some dwelling houses developing cracks from certain city areas like Chandmari Piyali Phukan Nagar have been received till filing of this report.
