Mizoram varsity to have Mizo VC

AIZAWL, May 12 � For the first time, a Mizo is going to become the Vice Chancellor in the State�s lone university, Mizoram University here.

This was stated in the appointment letter issued by the Ministry of Human Resources Development intimated to Mizoram University on Tuesday, a source said.

In fact, the ministry has appointed the seniormost professor in the North Eastern Hill University Shillong, Prof. R. Lalthantluanga to be the new Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University succeeding Prof. AN Rai.

Prof. R. Lalthantluanga will attain 65 years of age, the age of superannuation retirement next year. He will, however, be allowed to continue his service upto the age of 70 years as per the UGC rule for being the Vice Chancellor of the University.
