Minority welfare society launched

GUWAHATI, Oct 31 - To promote, educate and socially enhance the minority population of the State, a Minority Development Social Welfare Society (MDSWS) was formally launched here today.

The society will look to impart education especially in the char areas and among the underprivileged sections. It has set targets to hold public workshops, meetings and seminars in different places of Assam from early November.

Noted litterateur and former president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha Kanak Sen Deka was present at the launch programme as the chief guest. Religious leaders and representatives of different ethnic groups and student organisations were also present at the launch programme.

The website www.mdsws.com which will help interested parties for updates and notifications regarding all programmes and schemes of MDSWS, was also launched.

In his speech president of the newly launched society Habib Mohammad Choudhury said that they would be working together for education and development of the minority people.
