GUWAHATI, July 29 � Suspected militants today abducted Niron Kumar Mahajan (48), project manager of Simplex Company engaged in the four-lane widening project between Hatikhuli and Mandadisa under Lang Ting police station, around 11.30 am today.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and a rescue operation has been launched.
Meanwhile, an official statement said that four criminals have been arrested by Dholla police station of Tinsukia district today while they were going to extort money from Sanker TE in the name of ULFA. Police has seized the computer used for printing the ULFA notepad.
In another incident, a grenade was recovered from an abandoned bag at Sarfanguri bazar in Kokrajhar district today around 1.30 pm. Police has taken up the case and investigation is on to apprehend the culprits.
