Meritorious Kharam students felicitated

IMPHAL, June 19 - The first-ever felicitation function of meritorious students of Kharam tribe, one of the smallest tribe in Manipur was held here under the aegis of Kharam Students� Union Manipur (KSUM) on Sunday.

Altogether 42 meritorious students including 20 girl students who passed Class X and XII examinations were felicitated in the function. Rengneithang of Kharam Pallel village who got 99 out of 100 in fine arts in CBSE�s Class XII exam, was among the 42 meritorious students.

The Kharam (Kha means south and Lam means Land in Manipuri), is a small tribe in Manipur confined to five small villages with an approximate population of around 2,000. Most of the villagers are converted into Christianity.
