Memo to DC for action against encroachment

GUWAHATI, April 1 � The people of West Boragaon here, in a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) recently, urged upon the district administration to widen the natural water drain passing through the area.

The natural water drain, which originates at Adimgiri area, flows through Mitha Aamtal, Devkotanagar and West Boragaon to the Deepor Beel. Due to encroachment, the width of the drain has considerably narrowed down resulting in frequent overflow and flash flood in the area during the rainy season, causing much inconvenience and loss to the residents of the West Boragaon area.

The people of the area have urged upon the DC, Kamrup (M) to look into the matter and do the needful before the onset of the rainy season.
