Meghalaya terminates HPL contract

SHILLONG, Feb 15 � The Meghalaya government has terminated the contract with the Hindustan Prefab Ltd (HPL) to construct 840 dwelling units for the poor in the state after the company failed to comply with the terms agreed earlier.

It has also asked the construction company to refund Rs four crore balance money the government had released to the HPL, a senior Meghalaya Urban Development Authority official said today. � PTI
