Meghalaya sounds alert following forecast

SHILLONG, July 3 � An alert was sounded in all Meghalaya districts following IMD forecast of heavy to extreme rainfall in isolated places in Meghalaya and neighbouring Assam, officials said today.

�We have issued orders for DCs and SPs in all 11 districts to remain alert in case of an emergency arising out of the extreme weather forecast in the NE for the next 36 hours,� State Chief secretary P Barkos O Warjri said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has in its forecast said that there will be a heavy to heavy rainfall on July 3 and 4 in few isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya. � PTI
