Meet reviews progress of Central schemes

GUWAHATI, July 6 � Officials of various departments have been instructed to undertake work on various Central projects within the scheduled time-frame and to provide reports to elected representatives at a regular interval.

This was conveyed to the officials during a review meeting of the district-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (Panchayat and Rural Development) of Kamrup Metro district held at the Circuit House here on July 3 under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Bijoya Chakravarty, said an official statement received here today.

The meeting reviewed the progress of various programmes like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the district.

A review of other projects like the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) and schemes for rural areas and women and children, was also done.

Chakraborty, in her speech, called upon officials to undertake work on various projects within the scheduled time-frame and called upon them to provide reports to elected representatives at a regular interval.

Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu also stressed timely completion of project works.

The review meeting was also attended by West Guwahati MLA Hemanta Talukdar and senior officials from the district administration and various departments.
