GUWAHATI, June 20 - A massive fire broke out at a biscuit factory located in Pub Boragaon area late last night, triggering panic in the entire locality. None, however, was hurt in the incident. It is estimated that goods and assets worth a sizeable amount were gutted in the inferno, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained. The fire was so massive that smoke was seen billowing from inside the factory hours after fire tenders reached the spot.
RC Bhakat, Senior Inspector of the State Fire Service Organisation (SFSO), told this reporter that they were trying to ascertain the cause of the fire that had broken out in the factory named Sunrise Biscuit Company. �There is no report of any injury,� he said.
Another official of the SFSO said 16 fire tenders both from Guwahati and outside were pressed into action to douse the flames. The fire was eventually brought under control in the afternoon. Apart from the stations located in Guwahati, teams of fire fighters were called in from Mirza, North Guwahati, Sonapur, Chandrapur and Baihata Chariali.
