Manipur to set up 2 science centres

IMPHAL, Sept 3 - Manipur Government is all set to set up two district science centres and planetarium in Churachandpur and Ukhrul district. Presently, the State has just one science centre in the capital Imphal.

The construction works will start soon, according to Director of Science and Technology department E Ibocha. The North Eastern Council has released the required fund for the two science centres.

The civil works of the project will be taken up by Manipur Tribal Development Corporation while the exhibit portion will be looked after by National Council of Science Museums(NCSM), Government of India.

The department has also proposed to set up Science Centre and Planetarium in every district headquarter in a phased manner. It could not be taken up now due to unavailability of fund and land, the Director said.
