IMPHAL, Jan 23 - Tightening security in view of the Republic Day celebrations in Manipur, Imphal East district police on Monday conducted combing operations in and around Hatta Golapati area and verified around 367 individuals including 87 women. The police later picked up four persons, sources said.
Police also conducted house to house search operations in and around Moirangkhom, Loklaobung and Bokulmakhong areas in Imphal.
Similar search operations were carried out at Maibam chingmang under Nambol police station in Bishnupur district, it added.
On Monday, a cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front was apprehended at Moreh.
Contraband seized: Manipur police seized 12,000 World is Yours(WY) tablets from a vehicle coming from Imphal. The seizure was made during a routine checking of vehicles at Leingangpokpi along Imphal-Jiribam sector of National Highway 37 on Saturday.
The seized tablets, which would be worth around Rs 36 lakh in the local market, was recovered from a passenger Cruiser jeep (AS 11BC 9503) after a brief chase.
