Manipur House demands ILP introduction

IMPHAL, July 13 � Manipur Assembly has urged the Centre to extend the Bengal EasternFrontier Regulation 1873 with necessary changes to the State to pave the way for implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the State.

Opposition leader Dr I Ibohalbi Singh of All India Trinamool Congress had moved a private member�s motion on the issue in the House.

The State Cabinet had earlier adopted the resolution in its meeting late last night.

Earlier, opposition members led by Dr I Ibohalbi walked out of the Assembly when the Speaker Th Lokeshwar announced the passing of the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (appointment, salary and allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, 2012 in the House.
