Manipur Health Dept MoU with Guwahati hospital

IMPHAL, Dec 17 - The Manipur Department of Health and Family Welfare today signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, for the latter�s empanelment under the Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT). The CMHT is a State-sponsored health scheme in Manipur.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Manipur Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the importance of the MoU in the State�s health sector.

He said that 84,209 families had been enrolled for health insurance benefits covering up to Rs 2 lakh for a family every year. Around Rs 5 lakh people had registered with the CMHT in the State. A total of 20,298 CMHT card holders had been given free treatment and a sum of Rs 27.57 crore had been spent on the CMHT so far, he added.

The newly-empanelled Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Guwahati, will provide free treatment to CMHT card holders of the State in cardiology, general surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, nephrology, urology, orthopaedics, gastrology, and kidney-related ailments.

The Manipur Health Department is also ready to sign ten more MoUs with hospitals located outside, the minister added.
