Manipur Guv appeals for a strong nation

IMPHAL, March 10 - Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has appealed to the masses to come forward in building a strong State and nation.

The Governor made the appeal on the sideline of a wreath-laying ceremony to pay homage to Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) Naik Amar Sher Singh of 13 Sikh Light Infantry who lost his life during a counter insurgency operation recently, at Imphal International Airport here on Wednesday. Later, the mortal remains of Naik Amar Sher Singh, a resident of Fazilka town in Punjab and father of a four year old daughter, was flown to his home town.

Naik Singh sustained injury on his chest when suspected NSCN (IM) militants fired on a patrol of 13 SLI near Nungadang village in Noney district on March 5. He succumbed to his injuries while being evacuated to the Army hospital here.
