Manipur Forest dept to safeguard Amur Falcons

IMPHAL, Nov 3 � Manipur Forest department today said steps are on to safeguard and protect Amur Falcon birds in Tamenglong district which fall in their migratory route.

�We�ve just concluded some awareness programmes including poster and festoon campaigns in the district,� a senior Forest official told The Assam Tribune when contacted on phone. �We will also be writing to the district administration to protect and preserve the migratory birds and wildlife�, he added.

The step has been taken in view of the report of indiscriminate hunting of Amur Falcons in Tamenglong hill district bordering Assam�s Cachar

and Haflong area since the last few days.
