Manipur domination continues in NE Games

IMPHAL, March 4 - Host Manipur continued to dominate at the ongoing 2nd edition of the National Level North East Games (NLNEG) being held at the Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal.

In judo, players from Manipur � L Sandhya (48kg), Gangarani (70kg), L Rishini (above 70 kg) and Mizoram player Lalhumahimi (52kg) bagged gold medals. Mizoram players Lalnilawmaamii (48kg), Lallawmzuala (70kg), Lalthozuali (above 70 kg) and Silom Jesla of Arunachal Pradesh had to be content with the silver medals.

In 800m (men), Manipur�s K Konungjao (01:58:67) bagged the gold while VS Lalpka (02:01:44) of Mizoram got the silver medal.

In 800m (women), N Chaoba (02:26:47) of Manipur clinched the gold while Mangli Tamang (02:32:18) of Sikkim managed the silver medal.

In women�s shot put competition, Ramengmouri Sailo (9.31m) of Mizoram bagged first position while Hainekim Samte (9.16m) of Manipur occupied the second spot.

In men�s high jump, Litam Debbarman (1.86m) of Tripura occupied the first position while Rajkumar Wareppa (1.83m) of Manipur secured the second position.

In women�s weightlifting, Manipur�s K Ornila stood first in the 44kg category while Tang Devi of Arunachal Pradesh managed the second position. In the 48kg, P Ganga Chanu of Manipur won the gold while Laro Peki of Mizoram walked away with the silver.

Similarly in 53kg, M Purnima of Manipur and Popy Hazarika of Assam ensured the gold and silver medal respectively. In the 58kg event, Kh Nungsiton of Manipur emerged champion while Chandana Gogoi of Assam managed the second position.

In men�s football being played at three different venues, Nagaland beat Sikkim 8-0 while Tripura edged past Meghalaya 2-1. Manipur and Mizoram played a goalless draw.
