Manipur CM chairs meet to strictly enforce lockdown

IMPHAL, July 25 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today chaired a meeting of the State Consultative Committee for COVID-19 here to enforce the ongoing Statewide lockdown and SOPs (standard operating procedures) strictly to check further spread of the viral disease.

The meeting was attended by three ministers, three MLAs, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, and Directors of the RIMS, JNIMS and Manipur Health Services.

In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister wrote: �Stringent contact tracing is being done and continuing to trace out possible positive cases. The Committee resolved to strictly enforce the statewide lockdown and SOPs to check further spread.�

The meeting also discussed the local transmission scene in Jiribam, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts and the Chil Chil CRPF camp, Leikhampokpi and Kangpokpi.

Meanwhile, the Senapati district hospital has been closed down after a doctor working there tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, sources said.

The total number of positive cases in Manipur today reached 2,176 with 656 active and 1,520 recovered cases, official sources said. The recovery rate is 69.85 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 30 persons were confirmed positive at the VRDLs of the RIMS and the JNIMS, and the district hospitals of Thoubal and Ukhrul, a press release stated. All except three persons from Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal, are returnees from other States, it added.

In the past 24 hours, 29 persons have also been discharged from different COVID care facilities.

As of Saturday, 3,15,654 people have been screened at various entry points to the State, while 76,992 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the State Surveillance Officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
