Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

IMPHAL, Nov 19 The 48-hour bandh imposed by Thadou Students Association (TSA) since midnight last has affected vehicular movement in the hill districts of Manipur.

The TSA has called the bandh in protest against the acquisition of 3,000 acres of land for the proposed construction of a Smart City at Haolenphai village in Chandel district. Supporting the bandh, students and bandh supporters came out in the streets and blocked vehicles by burning tyres and piling stones in the streets.

However, no untoward incident was reported on the first day of the agitation.
