Mangaldai citizens water-logging woes

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

MANGALDAI, Aug 21 - The water-logging problem in several area under Mangaldai Municipal Board, including Ward No. 1 has aggravated over the years due to lack of scientific rain water drainage, besides the practise of granting permission for unabated permanent construction along with poor garbage disposal system.

As the surroundings are highly polluted, therefore each shower brings along with it the added risk of mosquito-borne diseases. Just at a time when Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has visualised a pollution-free Assam, the condition of Ward No. 1, where the office of the Municipal Board itself is located, has turned out to be among the worst, i.e., near the Mangaldai Poly Clinic, which is witness to murky water bodies with plastic and other non-biodegradable garbage floating on it.
