Mandal caught accepting bribe

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - A mandal of the Dispur Revenue Circle, Syed Intaruddin Ahmed, was today caught by anti-corruption and vigilance sleuths while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a woman for giving permission to sell a plot of land at Birkuchi here.

Official sources said the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 from the complainant, Panchami Timung, for the land sale permission. Panchami later approached the ACB PS and the accused was trapped.

The residence of the mandal was also searched. He will be forwarded to the special court tomorrow.
