SILCHAR, Jan 24 - Sensation prevailed in Silchar after a man entered the premises of United Bank of India, Tarapur branch with a sword and an iron bar only to get his passbook printed.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Pada Das, single window official of the bank, who is also in charge of printing passbooks at the bank, told The Assam Tribune that the man is a customer of the banks Meherpur branch and recently his account was transferred to Tarapur branch.

The customer entered the branch with a sharp sword and an iron rod and was in the queue asking me to get the apparently torn passbook printed. When I asked why did he enter the bank with weapons, he threatened me and ordered me to do as per his wishes or else he would chop me down. Somehow I had to trick him and ring the alarm bell and call in the police, Das said.

Meanwhile, officials of the bank informed that the accused had vandalised the bank and damaged the printer and other belongings. The bank authorities have filed an FIR in this case.
