GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - A major fire broke out at New Market in Fancy Bazar locality of the city late this evening.
Over 20 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the inferno, a State Fire Brigade official said.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but it is suspected to be due to use of firecrackers in the crowded locality.
The fire spread across a large area within a short span, the Fire Brigade official said.
Efforts are on to control the fire till the time of filing of this report. The exact damage from the fire will be known only after it is controlled, said the official.
