In his brief address, Ayemi said that the main aim of the scheme is to provide electricity to all the un-electrified households in both urban and rural areas.

He said the entire project will be monitored by Rural Electrification Corporation (REC).

Ayemi also highlighted that in remote areas where electricity connection is not possible, the department would make efforts to provide electricity through Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) system.

Delivering the keynote address, Commissioner & Secretary (Power), KD Vizo said Nagaland has 2,81,811 rural households out of which 1,93,502 are already electrified.

He also said that since 21,543 rural households in the State are already being covered under another scheme called Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), the State has to cover only 66,766 rural households under Saubhagya programme. PTI
