Maggi banned in State

GUWAHATI, June 4 � The State government has banned the sale of Maggi chicken-flavoured noodles for a period of 30 days. The government decided this after four samples of Nestl�s popular instant food Maggi noodles have been found unsafe for human consumption.

The tests have been carried out on as many as 40 samples of Maggi noodles in the State.

�Four samples of Maggi noodles were found carrying monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the permissible limit,� official sources told this reporter. The reports were of those samples collected from Guwahati division.

Guwahati�s Health Safety Branch of the Health Department was the first to send the samples of the products for the necessary tests.
