Look into student vandalism: Himanta to VC

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, June 20 - Commenting on the issue of a group of students from Cotton University resorting to vandalism last night at Prashanti Lodge, Panbazar, State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that he has asked the Vice Chancellor (in-charge) to look into the matter.

Due to the wrongdoings of a handful of students, we cannot blame an entire institution. Though I cannot intervene in the matter as Cotton University is an autonomous body now, I think such students should be suspended for some time or even rusticated so that their parents get to know about their conduct, he said.
