Lockdown declared in Golaghat municipality area

DERGAON, July 8 - In view of the recent spike in number of Covid-19 positive cases in the district and considering the safety of people, the Golaghat district administration has declared lockdown in Golaghat municipal town area only with effect from 7 pm of July 9 to 7 pm of July 17.

Declaring the lockdown, the district magistrate Bibhash Ch Modi said that the lockdown would be enforced ruthlessly.

�Not even ration shops will be allowed to open except medical, electricity, PHE and officials engaged in sanitization,� the order said.

�District administration will decide which petrol depot will be kept open during this lockdown. There shall be no special containment zone during lockdown,� the order further stated.

After 22 new positive cases and discharge of 13 patients, the active cases has increased to 63 in Golaghat district as on Wednesday.

Among the new cases, 10 are from contact tracing, 4 are passengers and 8 others were detected.

With this the cumulative positive cases in the district has increased to 619 out of which 556 have been discharged so far.

The in-charge District Information and Public Relation Officer (DIPRO) of Golaghat Papu Gogoi said that 47 Covid patients were undergoing treatment at Golaghat Covid hospital while 3 were at Kohora Model hospital, 4 at Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) and 9 in home isolation as on today.

�A total of 242 inmates are in 15 quarantine facilities where 57 inmates were admitted afresh and another 72 inmates were discharged and 2 were transferred to other centres today. Among them, the highest 62 inmates are in Sarupathar Quarantine Centre as on Wednesday,� the DIPRO said.
