Landslide-prone areas inspected

GUWAHATI, Feb 6 � Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu yesterday conducted an inspection of landslide-prone areas in the city.

During his visit, the DC went to Fatasil Ambari and Dhirenpara and after the inspection directed certain departments to initiate some steps to prevent any untoward incidents in such landslide prone localities.

Dr Angamuthu said that he has issued direction to the Forest Department for immediate removal of a big rock which is hanging precariously from a hill at Ratnagiri Path in Dhirenpara.

Meanwhile, two Assam type houses located in the vicinity were evicted during a drive today which was undertaken by the Guwahati Circle Officer.

Senior district administration officials, besides officers from the Forest Department and Fatasil Ambari police station, accompanied the DC during the inspection.
