Lakshmi Puja celebrated with religious fervour

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - Lakshmi Puja was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional gaiety across the State along with the rest of the country today.

In Guwahati city community Lakshmi Puja was celebrated at several places, where people participated in large numbers. Devotional songs seeking the blessings of the Goddess of wealth were sung at private households and community pandals.

Goddess Lakshmi, who is the presiding deity of wealth and success, is worshipped on this day by the devout seeking her blessings.

In most of the households, women keep a fast on the Purnima (full moon) day, cook bhog for the Goddess and worship her. Making beautiful �alpana� and drawing Lakshmi footprints using rice paste also form an integral part of the puja celebrations for many.

The occasion is also observed by many office and business establishments.
