NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 28 - The Lakhimpur District Journalists Association has decided to boycott Government functions and stop reporting of any Government event from the district in protest against the police after an assault on a fellow journalist.

The move has been taken after the failure by the police to arrest the culprits who attacked Amrit Pawan Borah, the Dhakuakhana correspondent of a vernacular daily on September 28. The journalists, including members of the North Lakhimpur Press Club and Dhakuakhana Press Guild, had lodged protest marches along with various organisations wearing black arm bands and masks earlier.
