GUWAHATI, July 12 - Nitu Hawelia, advocate and tax practitioner at the Gauhati High Court, has been elected chairman (East Zone) of the Association of Tax Lawyers (ATL) which is a national body of tax advocates.
She was the vice-chairman of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP), East Zone, and is currently the only lady member from East Zone in the national executive committee of AIFTP, a press release said.
She is also the indirect tax committee chairman of the Tax Bar Association, Guwahati and during her tenure, she has submitted many representations to the GST Council on behalf of the North East dealers to mitigate problems in filing GST returns.
