Kokrajhar tense after killings

KOKRAJHAR, July 7 � Brutal killing of two innocent persons by unidentified gunman last night in Kokrajhar turned the situation tense today as suddenly all shops were closed, plying of vehicles came to halt and the normal life of people was disrupted.

The AAMSU and ABMSU, strongly condemning the attacks today blocked road traffic in several places of Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon and took out a procession carrying the two bodies shouting slogans against the civil, police and BTC administration for allegedly failing to protect minorities. A section of the mob also set motorbikes ablaze, damaged vehicles and pelted stones in different places of Kokrajhar district. The procession carrying the bodies demonstrated before the DC office, Kokrajhar and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the DC.

Meanwhile, the shock caused by the incident became widespread and the AAMSU and ABMSU demanded intervention of higher authorities for a firm control of the situation.
