SILCHAR, May 10 - At least 14 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalay in Cachar districts Pailapool, who returned from a study tour in Bihars Kishanganj, were kept under quarantine.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) said today, swab samples of the students have been collected while the students are now under quarantine.

Further, Dr Gupta informed that there has been no COVID-19 positive result from the hospital in the last 24 hours although results of some of the samples are yet to be obtained.

The SMCH Vice Principal added that even as the hospital was catering to the medical needs of general patients, the rising trend of COVID-19 cases has made things difficult for the hospital authorities regarding admission of patients. Patients who are experiencing extreme health complications are only given admission in the hospital, he maintained.

Asked about the health condition of the COVID-19 patients at the hospital, Dr Gupta informed that all the 11 patients, including six female and five male are stable and treatment is in progress.
