Khoirabari ready to host 59th session of Bodo Sahitya Sabha

KALAIGAON, Jan 18 - Khoirabari in Udalguri district is bracing up to welcome thousands of guests to the 59th annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha to be held at Daoharu Fwthar from January 20 to 22.

The conference will be attended by delegates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, West Bengal, etc., besides those from Assam.

An area of 300 bighas has been turned into a temporary township for the conference.

More than 200 people, mostly women and girls, from 27 neighbouring villages have been working round-the-clock to make the conference a success.

Lwmshrao Daimari, EM, BTC, and president of the reception committee told this correspondent that people have volunteered their services for the conference.

According to him, the dining hall would accommodate at least 5000 people at a time and 500 people have volunteered to cook meals for the delegates and visitors during the conference.

Maheswar Boro, Kalaigaon MLA and working president of the reception committee, said that a budget of around Rs 1.5 crore has been approved for the conference and various individuals and organisations have extended their support and cooperation.

An exhibition will be held on a plot of land measuring 42 bighas and both government and private sectors will display their products in more than 300 stalls.

Several places of importance in and around Khoirabari have been decorated for the visitors. The Hirimba Bathou Temple at Hirimbapur Sariali, which was built in 1972, and Mungkhlong Garden near Khoirabari town are expected to be major attractions for the visitors.

Udalguri Deputy Commissioner Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia will inaugurate the Lamudhar Boro memorial main gate at 8.30 am on January 20 to mark the beginning of the 59th session of Bodo Sahitya Sabha to be followed by other events.

Dipen Boro, vice president of ABSU, will inaugurate the Daleswar Boro memorial pandal.

PHE Minister Rihon Daimari will inaugurate the Samaram Boro Memorial exhibition. Taren Boro, president, Bodo Sahitya Sabha will hoist the Sabha flag at 8 am on January 21. Dr Hitesh Deka, Vice Chancellor of KKHSOU, will release the souvenir.

Assam PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the award presentation and felicitation ceremony as the chief guest.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the open session at around noon on the concluding day on January 22, which will be presided over by Taren Boro, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha.

Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhrail �Nishank� will grace the open session as the chief guest while BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary, Asam Sahitya Sabha president Kuladhar Saikia and Prof DG Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysore, will be present as distinguished guests.

Noted singer Kalpana Patowary will perform in the cultural night on the concluding day.

Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia is also supervising the preparations and has offered all possible help from his side.
