Karate players felicitated

GUWAHATI, June 10 - Altogether five karate players who have been selected to represent India at various international karate championships were today felicitated by the United Karate-Do Association, Assam (UKAA).

The players were selected after their medal winning performances at the KAI National Karate Championship. The State karatekas clinched a total of 16 medals including a gold, two silver and 13 bronze medals.

Hemphu Bongjang, Sarhaan Rasul, Saurav Kr Gogoi have been selected to represent India at the 10th WKF Youth Training Camp and World Youth Cup Karate Championship to be held at Umag, Croatia from June 26 to July 2. Hemphu will feature in the 10-11 years kata and kumite (30kg category) while Sarhaan will participate in the 10-11 years (40kg category). Saurav will play in the 12-13 years boys kumite (50kg category). Enjebee Chakma who clinched a gold medal at the KAI Junior National Karate Championship has been selected to represent the country in all the five different World Karate Federation events. Jyotirshman Kashyap will participate in the World School Games to be held in New Delhi from July 7 to 15. UKAA also felicitated all the medal winners of the KAI National Karate Championship.
