Kamrup (M) admin gears up for I-Day celebrations

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - For the forthcoming Independence Day on August 15, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has entrusted various duties and responsibilities to different departments.

Orders have been issued to the PWD (Buildings) to complete its tender process for erection of tents on the Veterinary College ground, where the main function of the Independence Day will be held.

The PWD (Electrical) has been directed to undertake electrification works in the field from the time of practice of march past by security forces, while the APDCL has been told to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the venue.

The PWD (Roads) has been asked to repair the roads and drains in and around the field.

The GMC has been asked to install sufficient numbers of toilets on the field and clean up the nearby drains.

The ASTC has been directed to provide buses for the public to attend the main event at the Veterinary College ground.

The district administration has directed the GMDA to illuminate important statues in the city and install CCTV cameras at Shraddhanjali Kanan, besides carrying out floral decorations in the main venue.

The Forest Department has been tasked to undertake trimming and pruning of trees and supply sand at the venue.

The Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Department will be responsible for provision of refreshments to police personnel and performers, while the Directorate of Information and Public Relations has been asked to provide a good quality sound system, besides inviting media persons and engaging anchors.

All departmental heads have been asked to complete their respective tasks by August 13.
