Kamrup Day to be observed

GUWAHATI, Oct 4 � The Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha has decided to observe the seventh day of Bohag as the Kamrup Day, highlighting the cultural glory and unity of the old undivided Kamrup district which has been divided into present day districts of Kamrup Rural, Kamrup Metro, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang and Baksa.

The Zila Sahitya Sabha, in its meeting held on September 24, also decided to organise a lecture on Sri Sri Haridev by a scholar, in addition to four lecturers already decided.

The meeting began with a resolution adopted condoling the deaths of a number of writers, musicians and social activists.
