Jyotirupa NE One Act Play Competition ends

GUWAHATI, Jan 30 � The curtains came down on the 35th Jyotirupa North East One-act Play competition on Thursday with declaration of the winners and distribution of prizes in group and individual categories.

The Radha Govinda Baruah Memorial Running Trophy, Jyotirupa award and cash prize of Rs 10,000 was conferred on Natghar, Nityananda, Bajali, which was adjudged the best group out of the participating teams.

The second best team Rangalaya, Puranigudam, was presented with the Radha Govinda Baruah Memorial Running Trophy, Jyotirupa award and cash prize of Rs 7000. The third best team Jyotishilpa, Nagaon was presented with the Radha Govinda Baruah Memorial Running Trophy, Jyotirupa award and cash prize of Rs 3000.

The Ishan Baruah Memorial Award and Jyotirupa Award for the best playwright went to Kishore Tahbildar. The award also carries Rs 3000.

The Siva Thakur Memorial Running Trophy, Jyotirupa Award and cash prize of Rs 3000 for the best director went to Mrinal Kumar Bora.

While Deepjyoti Keot was adjudged the best actor and was presented with the Sishir Goswami Memorial Award, Jyotirupa Award and Rs 1000, the Jayanta Baruah Memorial Award, Jyotirupa Award and Rs 1000 for the best actress was bagged by Purnima Bora. The Siddharth Medhi Memorial Running Trophy, Jyotirupa Award and Rs 500 for the best child actor went to Bhargina Sarma.

The OP Nayar Award and Rs 500 for the second best director was bagged by Kishore Tahbildar.

The Premalata Lahkar Memorial Award, Jyotirupa Award and Rs 500 for the second best actor went to Sanjay Das.

The Jyotirupa Award and Rs 500 for the second best actress went to Esmita Bora.

The Kishore Thakuria Memorial Running Trophy and Rs 1000 for best disciplined team was bagged by Rangchora, Barpeta.

In the mono acting category, Pranab Sarma got the Kishore Thakuria Award, Jyotirupa Award and Rs 1000 for the best actor, the Jyotirupa Award and Rs 500 was presented to the second winner Falgudhara Bharadwaj and the Jyotirupa Award and Rs 400 was presented to the third winner Pratiksha Sarma. Consolation prize was given to Jyostna Medhi.

Jury�s special citation was presented to Gandharva, Maligaon, D Sarma Cultural Academy and Srutashrini Mahila Sangha in the group category and to Alakananda Rajbongshi Bora as a playwright.

Eminent playwright, director, actor Hemanta Dutta was felicitated on the occasion. Earlier, a cultural function that provided a glimpse into the rich heritage of the State enthralled the audience.
