Junior dental doctors stage strike

GUWAHATI, Nov 29 � The junior doctors and students of the Regional Dental College, Guwahati went on indefinite strike from today protesting government apathy towards their long standing demands.

The Junior Doctors� Association, Regional Dental College has been demanding development of infrastructure, provision of necessary staff and parity of stipends with their MBBS counterparts.

The association said that the number of dental chairs in relation to individual students, doctors were inadequate and 50 percent of the dental chairs were not functional.

The association has demanded a ban on the migration of students from private dental colleges to the Regional Dental College and preferential selection of doctors passing out of the Regional Dental College in Assam government jobs.
