JORABAT, March 1 - The carcass of an elephant was spotted in the Dakchik Reserve Forest near Topatoli under the Sonapur Forest Range today. Local villagers saw it lying near a small lake and informed the Sonapur Forest Range officials. A team of forest personnel reached the spot, but could not retrieve the carcass as it had grown dark in the evening.
The Forest department will send the carcass for post mortem tomorrow and the reason of the death will be revealed thereafter.
