IWT engineer held for graft

DIBRUGARH, July 17 - Pankaj Gogoi, executive engineer of the Inland Water Transport directorate here, was caught red handed while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe from a contractor today.

The arrest followed a trap laid by the anti corruption branch of the police. The IWT office here, which has jurisdiction over river ghats all over upper Assam, is known to be a den of corruption and nepotism.
