International conference on nationalism

GUWAHATI, Feb 5 - The Department of English of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science of Cotton University, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), CIT, Kokrajhar, and GLC College, Barpeta, is organising an international conference on �Re-configuring Nationalism: Protest and Acquiescence� from February 6 to 8. Around 80 participants from India and abroad have registered their names for the conference, stated a press release.

Dr Maya Tudor from Oxford University will deliver the keynote address on �Nationalism and Democracy in Comparative Perspective: Insights from Asia� at Bodoland University on February 6.

Prof Sugata Bhaduri from JNU, New Delhi, and Prof Susheel Kumar Sarma from Allahabad University, will also address the conference as key speakers.

All the technical sessions are going to be held on February 6 and 7. The speech at the valedictory session will be delivered by Dr Maureen Waters O�Neill, Eakin Visiting Fellow in Canadian Studies, McGill University, Canada, on �Nationalism in Multicultural State: A Comparative Perspective� with an emphasis on Canadian experiences at Cotton University on February 8. Dr Maya Tudor from Oxford University will also grace the occasion. The session will be chaired by Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta of Gauhati University.
