Inter-college debate competition at Sonapur College

GUWAHATI, Oct 18 - Sonapur College is organising the North East India Inter-College Debate Competition-2018 on November 3 at the college premises, a press release stated.

The topic of the debate is, in the opinion of the House: �Competition, not caste reservation, can only uplift all sections of the Indian society�.

The former Governor of Meghalaya Ranjit Sekhar Mooshahary will grace the debate competition as the Speaker of the House. The debaters in the competition can speak either in English or in Assamese. The organising committee has requested the principals of different colleges of the region to send a team comprising two debaters, one to speak for and the other against the motion.

The organisers have informed that the winners of the competition will be awarded with the Sinam Uriba Singh Memorial Prizes which comprises of trophies and cash prizes. The best, the second best and third best debaters will be awarded cash prizes, besides memorial trophies. Similarly, the best team and the second best team will be honoured with cash prizes, besides memorial trophies.

The organisers have requested the interested participants to confirm their participation on or before October 27 next.
