GUWAHATI, Oct 30 - Inertia of the intellectual leaders is responsible for the social and moral anarchy prevailing in the State, said senior journalist DN Chakravartty on Monday while presiding over a session of Milon Chora, a city-based socio-cultural organisation of people hailing from Baligaon in Jorhat.

Chakravartty said Assamese people had passed over several crisis periods in the history of the State and overcame successfully most of the crises, but during the last three decades there had been some stagnation in the thinking of the intellectuals, exposing the Assamese people to threats from foreign invaders and hostile elements within the country.

He stressed the need for recapturing the spirit of the glorious days of Momai Tamuly Barbaruah and Lachit Barphukan under whose leadership the Assamese people could overcome the threats from outside.
