Infant drowns

TURA, July 27 - A three-year-old infant was tragically drowned when he followed his mother into a river where she had gone to take a bath. The incident took place on July 24, but the infant�s body was recovered only today, after an extensive search by villagers and the police at Sadaghat Wari village in Rampagre under the Chokpot Block of South Garo Hills district.

�The body of the child was recovered from Darengchi river near Mitapgre.

The body was handed over to the family,� said Abraham T Sangma, SP of South Garo Hills.
