AIZAWL, April 17 - Champhai district sub divisional magistrate has put a halt on Indo-Myanmar border trade via Zokhawthar route in eastern Mizorams Champhai district following a disagreement between two groups of local traders.

Acting under section 133 (1) (ii), the sub-divisional magistrate ordered suspension of all trade activities between the two countries via the said route until further notice.

Official sources said two groups of traders in Zokhawthar have been fighting over the monopoly of loading and unloading import and export goods between India and Myanmar.

As the disagreement between the local traders grew from bad to worse, the magistrate felt the need to impose suspension on the border trade to prevent further troubles, an official said.
