AGARTALA, Nov 16 - Aiming to solve the vexed Muhurichar dispute in South Tripura subdivision, a high level Indo-Bangla meet will be held in Belonia on Thursday.
Joint Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Sripriya Ranghanathan accompanied by two officials arrived here on Wednesday to attend the meet.
Before meeting with her Bangladesh counterpart Addl Secretary of Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, Smt Ranghanathan would meet Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the conference hall of the Civil Secretariat here to know the stand of the State Government over Muhurichar. Revenue Minister Badal Chowdhury, Chief Secretary Yaspal Singh and Principal Secretary Revenue Sushil Kumar will also attend the meeting.
After the meeting, the Indian delegation headed by Ranghanathan will go to Bangladesh through Belonia border to attend a meeting in Dhaka scheduled for November 18.
In May, enclaves were exchanged by Delhi and Dhaka but Muhurichar was left out due to faulty demarcation by both sides. As per the Indira-Mujib agreement, border line is supposed to be drawn in the middle of river Muhuri but it was flouted by Bangladesh.
The State Government had strongly opposed the demarcation and urged the Centre to draw a fresh border line ensuring safety of Belonia town.
