Indian Engineering Congress from tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Dec 15 - The Assam State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) is going to host the 30th edition of Indian Engineering Congress here from December 17 to 20.

About 2,000 delegates from different parts of the country and a few foreign countries will attend the mega event.

Besides a grand and colourful ceremony at 10 am on December 18, the other programmes during the event include the Congress seminar on the topic, �21st Century Engineering: The Make in India Pathway�, memorial lectures, visionary talks, a felicitation programme called �Glimpses of Engineering Personalities�, a special session for woman engineers, an interactive session for deliberating on the engineering problems and prospects of the North East and a few award functions.

The organisers will also entertain the guests with a few important cultural expositions of Assam. A colourful exhibition with a view to depicting the contemporary elements of science and technology, will be held at the Sonaram HS School playground, Bharalumukh. It will be inaugurated at 4 pm on December 17.

To commemorate the event and highlight the salient scientific, technological, socio-cultural and environmental features of Assam, a multi-coloured souvenir will be released on December 18.
